Healthcare Counseling and care coordination
Care Support of America (CSA) provides a comprehensive, family oriented approach to aging parent caregiving, which includes healthcare counseling, telephone support, online tools, and partnerships with local home care services in over 500 locations.
Our Approach to caring for aging parents
Centered around eight practical caregiver needs—outlined by Dr. Dan Tobin—the Care Support of America service can provide:
- Physician support to help understand doctors’ recommendations for aging parents and ask doctors productive questions
- Healthcare literacy for clarification on medical terms and health information
- Information support on nonmedical topics such as home care, insurance, and healthcare finances
- Coordinating services to address both medical and nonmedical needs
- Guidance support to help effectively solve family caregiving problems and create an active problem list
- Emotional support to help family caregivers cope with the realities of an aging parent’s ongoing illness
- Tangible support to actively hire services that solve family caregiving problems (e.g., a home healthcare nurse, transportation, housekeeper, etc.)
- Extended planning to learn what to expect and prepare for care as an aging parent’s illness progresses
